Uninor to shutdown their services in 3 circles including Kolkata, Mumbai and West Bengal. Uninor subscribers may continue service till January 18 2012 which is the last date of Uninor license validity in this area. After 2g spectrum auction Telecom company won 2g spectrum licence in 6 circles which are – Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh , UP- East, UP – West, Bihar and Gujarat.
Official report says “Our services will remain operational until a final decision is taken”.
Official announcement will be informed to the uninor customers by SMS before any disconnection of the Uninor services in these 3 circles including Mumbai, Kolkata and West Bengal.
Telenor managed to bag license of 5 MHz of spectrum in 6 circle out of their 9 circles with the price of Rs.4018 crore.
“Today, we have won spectrum the six most populous circles in India. These are also the areas where we enjoy a strong position already, and where we see the highest potential for continued growth and profitability. All of these circles are about to deliver on the financial targets of becoming break-even in 2013,” said Sigve Brekke, Executive Vice-President and Head of Telenor Group’s Asian Operations.
Final decision might be taken after 18 January 2013 and the decisions depend upon Supreme Court judgment.
