Country’s only LTE service provider Airtel is going to launch 4G wireless in Chandigarh by the end of March, 2013. After launch of the service in three consecutive places Airtel to spread it 4G footprint next in Punjab circle.
Airtel will deploy 4G LTE service in Chandigarh with the help of Chines equipment manufacturer ZTE . Airtel has already worked with ZTE in Kolkata for LTE expansion.
Bharti Airtel had won Wireless Broadband Access(BWA) licenses in four telecom circle including Kolkata, Maharashtra, Punjab and Karnataka in 2010 and company has already rolled out 4G network in Pune, Kolkata and Bengaluru .
Company has not announced any exact date for the launch event. Pan India BWA license owner Reliance Infotel is expected to launch its 4G wireless in Mumbai first and then the rest of the country.Another 4G operator Aircel is also expected to roll out its LTE service very soon.
In May 2012, Airtel had acquired 49% stack in Qualcomm’s broadband wireless access business by making a deal for USD 165 million which has allowed Airtel to expand its 4G service in 4 more circles including Mumbai, Delhi, Haryana and Kerala.
