Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has asked all existing telecom operators to stop receiving Mobile Number Portability requests from the users belonged to non-operating service providers or networks whose telecom license has been cancelled by Hon’ble Supreme Court direction on 2nd February 2012.
This direction is going to put the subscribers in big trouble who are in those circles where telecom companies has lost their operational GSM or CDMA spectrum license after the Supreme Court orders on February 2, 2012 and also, were unable to win fresh license to continue service further.
According to MNP License Agreements ” LICENSEE shall in no case provide MNP service to any Telecom Service Provider whose license is either terminated or suspended or not in operation in any point of time…..”
In respect to Supreme Court order of 2nd Feb 2012 and 15th Feb 2013, TRAI has forbidden the existing(/operational) mobile operators to take MNP request from the telecom operators whose license has been cancelled including Etisalat (15 circles), Loop (13 circles), SSTL under MTS brand (10 circles) STel (5 circles), Tata Teleservices (3 circles), Unitech Wireless under Uninor brand (15 circles) and Videocon (11 circles).
in a direction, TRAI asked all the Mobile Number Portability service providers not to process and All the Unified Access Service Providers and Cellular Mobile Service Providers not to entertain the request of porting in respect of mobile telephone numbers belonging to the service providers mentioned in following lists…
* Service provider informed try that they shall close down the telecom services in 30 days from February 21, 2013.
* Idea as a licensee is non-operational, where Spice is operating services
# Spice as a licensee is non-operational, where Idie is operating services
So users in MNP (request) waiting list Kindly switch your mobile network (from non-operational networks) as soon as possible to continue the number before any further directions come out.
