Reliance is going to continue 2G service across WB, Bihar & Assam after December 12, by offering Voice & SMS only services to customers in 2G network. It’s a relief to ongoing debate on Reliance 2g shutdown issue. Now Reliance prepaid & postpaid users can maintain mobile number in Reliance network – No service disruption will happen at all !
According to Reliance customer care, 2G users across 3 circles can continue service & keep number in Reliance without any problem but only Voice & SMS plans will work on 2G network but data service (GPRS/EDGE) is now on stop.
After December 12, Reliance users will be barred from using GPRS/EDGE service. For data service, users can access Reliance 3g and Jio 4g network. For 3g & 4g service, subscribers need WCDMA & LTE (respectably) enabled mobile or data card.
Reliance also confirmed existing 2G/3G users are allowed to access Jio 4G network for high-speed internet service which means no separate Jio 4g sim card is required to access Reliance Jio 4g network.
Subscribers can now continue service without any hesitation after Dec 12 but make sure to upgrade mobile handset for high-speed internet access and, also make sure to contact Reliance support using support number added below if your are getting SMS for porting or 3G/4G upgrade.
