Main purpose of buying LYF mobile was to test Jio 4g network & use of unlimited 4g data & VoLTE calls. After LYF Wind 4, LYF Wind 1 comes as second best choice & which later becomes a perfect 4g mobile hotspot dongle thanks to 10 hours power backup from a 2300mAh battery.
LYF Wind 1 comes with 5 inch HD display with 1.2GHz SD410 CPU, Adreno 306 & 1GB RAM. Dual Sim 4g handset offers single 4g standby. It supports all three Jio 4g bands (3, 5 & 40). LYF Wind 1 is just 125 gm in weight & 8.5mm thickness which makes it simply simple to carry & easy to hold.
LYF Wind 1 display: 5 inch HD display is above average. Minimum brightness was not that low – Third party app helps a lot to decrease brightness to desired level. Display is okay for outdoor usage. Be sure to have an extra screen protector while buying any LYF mobile.
Display rating: 6/10
LYF Wind 1 Performance: After using Wind 1 for couple of days, One thing is clear LYF mobile’s hardware specs are upto mark but problem is in system optimization – Yes device has power to deliver best performance but engineer seems failed to add tweaks for maximum performance.
Protected app mode in LYF mobile helps to kill apps running in background taking RAM unnecessarily. You can use Wind 1 as a best 4G mobile Hotspot device but it hurts a lot while using as a primary mobile companion. Touch is great but not so fast. No reboot but faced a lot of lags during normal use. RAM management is pathetic. Sound is very loud & great. Audio quality during call is not up to mark.
During performance test we achieved following results:
AnTuTu benchmark result: 27418
Quadrant benchmark test: 14198
Geekbench test: Single-core: 451 Multi-core: 1293
Performance rating: 6/10
LYF Wind 1 Camera test: Wind 1 comes with a 8MP rear and a 5MP front camera. Both the cameras offer below average quality for still shooting at daylight but bad in low light condition although Flash while using 8MP camera offers better low light shooting. Video recording just OK compared to mobile available at 6.7K INR price range.
Camera rating: 5/10
LYF Wind 1 Gaming : Gaming is okay as far as entry level games are concerned but it gives pain when it comes to high-end games such as Asphalt 8 or Nova 3 or Modern Combat 5 or similar. Well, We played Nova 3 without much issues. No lags found for entry level games.
Gaming rating: 5/10
LYF Wind 1 Voice call test: Jio network need more time to configure system perfectly. Voice call clarity is not up to mark but it may definitely fix after commercial launch. We haven’t tested video calls on Wind 1 mobile.
Voice calls rating: 6/10
LYF Wind 1 4g Speed test: We have found maximum 48mbps speed in LYF Wind 1 mobile – Speed may vary with the change of locations. No speed issue found due to handset hardware configuration.
- Speed on 2300Mhz band : 48mbps (Max)
- Speed on 1800Mhz band: 12mbps (Max)
- Speed on 850Mhz band: 8mbps (Max)
Speed rating: 7/10
LYF Wind 1 Battery backup: Well 2300mAh battery can’t last long when phone is being used for watching videos or browsing internet but we found it as a great Mobile Hotspot device – Since the main purpose of buying LYF mobile was to use it as mobile hotspot – It stands tall – We found – after a full charge, Wind 1 can deliver up to 10 hours to 12 hours of Mobile Hotspot backup. Charger provided with device was not that good.
Battery rating : 8/10
LYF Wind 1 Heating issue: SD410 can’t make your palm so hot when normal mobile use is concerned but device get heated a little when high-end games, benchmark are running.
LYF Wind 1 pricing rating: 3/10
During our test we found LYF Wind 1 has a lot of rooms for engineers to improve – LYF can deliver better performance if an optimized OS is delivered via system update.
LYF Wind 1 is not recommended for heavy gaming or web browsing. You can use it as a perfect 4g mobile hotspot device.
Wind 1 is a a complete waste of Rs 6700 as long as device is concerned but 3 months Preview offer + LYF Wind 1 mobile may only cost Rs 6700.
If you are going to buy LYF mobile then buy LYF Water 5 (better pricing & features but no SD card option) instead of Wind 1.
