No SIM more than Three Months to Foreign Tourist

The Governments become more restrictive to foreign tourists while it comes to provide Sim card to  tourist visiting India and decided to restrict Sim distribution.

According to report, Government will ask Telecom operators not to provide connection to any foreign tourist for a validity of three months. The initiative is taken to stop misuse of SIM card distribution and services.

Department of Telecom (DoT) is going to issue new guidelines to the Indian service providers shortly.

“Any mobile connection issued to a foreigner should not have a validity beyond the validity of the visa. In case of foreign tourist, the validity of connection should not be beyond the visa period and also not exceed three months at a time even if the validity of the visa is beyond three months,” the fresh guidelines, which have been vetted by Union Home Ministry, said.

“The date of sale of Sim and activation of Sim is required to be established from the entries in the CAF. For this purpose, entry of date is to be made with the signature of the subscriber at the time of filing of CAF,” it said.
