Reliance communication raises call rate by 25% in four telecom sectors and going to increase call charge in all India telecom zones in next 30 days.Reliance base call charge increased 1.5 paisa per seconds from 1.2 paisa per second.
“We have seen on ground competition tapering off. Hence we need to restore back the price,” Gurdeep Singh, chief executive of Reliance Communications' mobile business, told Reuters.
“From our experience in the four zones where we have implemented it already, this is very much sustainable. We see another round of tariff hike in the next one year,” Singh said.
It was suspected to increase the call rate very soon as the telecom licence was cancelled by Hon. Supreme Court.New operators like Uninor ,MTS,Videocon made a healthy competition with others big telecom operators in base tariff plans but after license cancellation, subscribers led to sharp drops in previous months for these operators.STEL already left the Indian telecom market and others are trying best to gain their past status.
Last month Reliance lost 20million customers.According to official report, this loss was due to clean-up exercise by company as to disable inactive numbers which has not been used in last two months.
85 percent of Indian telecoms sector's revenue comes from Voice call.
Reliance already increased the call charge and now time for Airtel and Vodafone. It is expected that these biggie are going to hike the call charge very soon.
